Abrams changed ending of TFA for Rian Johnson (syfy.com) Speaking in the latest issue of Empire (via ScreenRant) Hamill reveals the ending of The Force Awakens was changed at the last minute to ensure continuity with Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Hamill says: “There was something that happened at the end of The Force Awakens when I’m standing on the cliff. I called Rian in a panic because it was all wrong. From the Glamour interview:  “The last thing Carrie and I filmed together was emotional for a variety of reasons,” Ridley confessed. “It’s the end of the film, and all of this crazy stuff has happened. There’s this moment that we share, and thinking about it now, I realize that it’s going to be really hard to watch. Because it will seem like a goodbye, even though it wasn’t at the time.
