Let's talk Rise of Skywalker! Thought I'd add to all the theories floating around. Here's what I think: -The Emperor didn't die when thrown down the shaft in Return of the Jedi, Just like Luke survived being thrown down the maw in Cloud City, the Emperor survived the shaft. I mean he's the Emperor!! Force saving himself would be a snap! -The surviving Emperor has been secretly creating a 'new' clone army for his come back, hence the appearance of the Empire era Star Destroyers in the trailer - Rey is a clone based off the Emperor's new clone army. Like Boba Fett before her, Rey is a clone taken away from a 'new' clone army and rescued/set aside to live a semi-normal life. Backed up by the 'Mirror' scene in The Last Jedi. -Dark Rey is a clone in the Emperor's new clone army. Brought up to have force powers and enough ability and strength to defeat all light side comers.  Optional Dark Ray theory I agree with that's out there is this is a Rey force vision of what might become of her, but hard to believe that Anyway, hope this is fodder for a topic or two on your podcast.
